SD Huesca has just promoted to Primera for the first time in their history.

Having spent most of their history shifting between the 3rd and 4th level, they promoted to Segunda for the first time ever 10 years ago. They've been fighting to keep their place in the second level since then up until last season, when they shocked everyone by reaching promotion playoffs. Most people thought it was a fluke and that this season they would fight to avoid relegation again, but they were wrong, as they've not only finished in the top 6 again but also secured promotion with two games in hand.

Congrats to them. Let's see how they perform in Primera... they're obviously expected to struggle, but who knows, everyone said the same thing about teams like Girona and Eibar, and the first ones have had a really good opening season while the second ones have had several mid table finishes already.

Rayo will likely be next to promote. All they need to do is win one of their two remaining games. This weekend, they'll play home against Lugo, which have nothing to fight for anymore (Huesca in fact promoted today thanks to a "free" 0-2 win over them), so it looks like the perfect chance for them to mark their return.

i really liked rayo, when they played in primera
proper hipster team and one of the few to ever send pep himself to bed with less possession

Yes

They are a very likeable club overall, with a strong personality and unique culture. And like I've mentioned in other occasions, they have a very nice atmosphere... they're like one big family, and before the games there are huge meetups outside the stadium, where everyone seems to know each other.

Hope they promote.

Another likeable and popular club that might promote is Cádiz (currently they are 6th, so in the playoff spots). Their fans don't give a fuck, they just want to party. Their iconic chant is "¡Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, alcohol! ¡Hemos venido a emborracharnos, y el resultado nos da igual!" (Alcohol x5, we're here to get drunk and we don't care about the result) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8hKoOlSTJk

They also sing stuff like "¡Queremos jamón!" ("We want ham!") and other goofy stuff that aren't really football related. Their banter is also pretty awesome, and they like trolling the rival fans and players... games there are really just a silly and fun party.

Many years ago there was a nationwide protest against ticket prices, which led to almost empty stadia during a weekend. In most stadia the atmosphere was shit, as the few people who went to watch the games just sat there and maybe chanted a bit, but that's it....

However in Cádiz they decided to have fun their way:

Thanks mate :D

0-0 draw, and back to Segunda, where we don't belong, but it's at least one step closer to Primera, where we belong :D

Our defensive performance was excellent and secured the 3-1 lead without any trouble.

We will now face Rayo de Majadahonda in the Championship Playoff Final for the honorific title of Segunda B Champion and some monies (not too much anyway). Don't know much about this team tbh, will probably be able to provide more data in the following days. Founded in 1976, they started off in level 8 of the spanish football pyramid, and they've been climbing up since then. It only took them 3 years in the third tier to secure today their first ever promotion to Segunda... something that definitely not many were expecting a few months ago, but they made it possible after an amazing second half of the season.

Rayo is back in Primera, congrats to them!

In 3 weeks we will find out who is the 3rd team to promote. Sporting and Zaragoza have secured their spot in the playoffs today, while Cádiz (64 points), Valladolid (64), Osasuna (64), Numancia (62) and Oviedo (62) will fight for the remaining two playoff spots in the last gameweek of the season, next weekend.
