ok, so i'm gonna tell the story of my team this season:
it began quite promising: we were 6th after the first half of the season with hopes of competing for a europa league spot but it ended rather poorly.
finished 13th this year, which is actually ok given the players we have, but quite disappointing after the position we were in mid season. in fact we just won a single one of our last 15 games!
we'll also lose one of the most promising young german defenders (kirchhoff) to bayern (where he will hardly play a match). quite annoying but you get used to it as fan of a small club. the only good thing about finishing so bad is that we might be able to keep our best striker (szalai) for another year.
other highlights of the season were the young striker shawn parker, who looks very promising and nicolai müller who got his first (and probably last) cap for germany last wednesday - he's only the 4th mainz player to achieve that (after manuel friedrich, lewis holtby and andré schürrle) - and of course the away win in frankfurt.
i only went to 4 games this year (3 home, 1 away): one win, two draws and a loss.
