So Mallorca secured first place yesterday. We're the only team out of the four groups that is already champion, so we will have to wait another week to see what teams we might face in the champions playoff, which will be our first chance at promoting.

thx man, and congratulations to you as well. any particular team you're hoping for as an opponent?

Any insights on what will happen transfer wise with Mainz?

always hard to tell in mainz, even for fans. there are always rumours ofc, but our policy in terms of transfers has always been to keep it secret and out of the media as long as possible, and that hasn't really changed.

it might though since rouven schröder, christian heidel's successor here and responsible for our transfers is heavily linked with hamburg. i wouldn't mind though to be honest, i did not particularly like his decisions - not even that he signed bad players, but he somewhat broke with our tradition and philosophy to almost exclusively sign young talented players and develop them.

in terms of player rumours the obvious candidates for transfers are gbamin (22, dm, several clubs interested), diallo (22, cb, several clubs, amongst them arsenal), and maybe muto (25, st, any random english club with too much money).
concerning possible signings your guess is as good as mine, i'd be happy to keep our current players, get rid of some dead weight like bungert (sry skip), onisiwo, ujah... and sign a decent fullback and maybe one or two talents...

idk man, I can't say I know much about what the other teams play like.

On paper, names like "Rayo de Majadahonda" or "Marbella", which are fighting for promotion to Segunda for the first time ever, are less scary than, for example, "Mirandés" (which relegated with us last season, signed a few good players, and has much more experience than us in promotion playoffs)... but then again, you never know with these teams, as names don't always mean much in football.

I do know that, in theory at least, we have the best squad out of the whole 4 groups (not surprising as we're the biggest and richest club in the third level, along with Racing and Murcia, which are having a surprisingly underwhelming season). We should beat our opponents, no matter who they are, so I'm confident... but of course anything can happen over two legs.

that goal from hector. as much as i respect his decision to stay with cologne, that's wasted talent in the 2nd bundesliga.

hamburg's stadium is burning, disgraceful 'fans'. as much as i hoped for plasticburg to get relegated, seeing this severely diminishes my sympathy for bundesliga's last remaining founding member to never have been relegated...

So Mallorca finished off their regular season with a 0-1 victory over Zaragoza's B team (last placed team, they relgated to the 4th level like a month ago). Boring and meaningless game, we fielded all of our subs. Now we just have to wait to tomorrow, when the other groups will play and we will know what teams we might face in the playoffs.

But the important news today is that our B team, which relegated to the 4th level last season due to the senior squad relegating from Segunda, has won the league and will likely promote back to where they belong if the senior squad makes it past the playoffs and returns to Segunda. They totally deserve it, as the senior squad took all of their good players in the summer, and they've had to rebuild with a bunch of very young and inexperienced players. Their title was decided in an awesome 4-3 game against the second placed team (Poblense)... I think it was a mroe exciting game than any of the ones the senior squad played this season :D
