Well, if you don't want him, I wouldn't mind taking him back
He's very heavily linked to Atlético here. Cholo wants him, and Pipita apparently would be happy to live in Madrid again... but there it's complicated. Atlético can't get anywhere near his release clause nor afford to offer him astronomical wages... and Atlético fans don't want a former Madrid icon (plus his recent misses in the last 3 tournament with Argentina have made them skeptical about him being the best option to lead the to the CL title, which has undeniably become the club's short-midterm goal now). As a Madrid fan I have mizxed feelings. I'll love Pipita wherever he goes, but I don't really want to see him playing for Atlético. I'd understand the move because he's bonded to the city, the coach is argentinian, and joining Atlético isn't as much of a betrayal as joining Barça would be (especially when it's not a direct and forced move... Eto'o and Ronaldo were never hated as much as Figo or Luis Enrique, for example).
Not showing up is very unprofesional though. As much as I admire Higuaín, that was dissapoining.
Atletico would be a very nice fit for him. Atletico also bid for Icardi, which was subsequently rejected by Inter (in the area of 50M, Icardi is fantastic but has some character defects and Wanda).
Juventus could easily pay the release clause, with or without the sale of Pogba but surely it will be at the sacrifice of Pogba (but now we finally have a compelling, sensible reason to sell)
