Yep, I had read about this too. Bolivia was hoping this would happen.

who could have predicted that it would kill them in the long run

Not to mention that, with that scenario, Paraguay would have just needed a draw (so probably would have taken less risks) and Colombia would have been already qualified against Peru (so Peru might have faced less resistance and won their game, instead of just drawing it).

Heck, even a lot more results would probably be different, as Bolivia wouldn't have given up so early, and the mentality of every game would be different.

Fun fact, sure, but it's impossible to say what would have happened if they hadn't reported Bolivia.
