lol

do you know how Pau Cendrós is doing?

Decided to search this post of yours again since Cendros is actually playing atm.

Every since Victor fernandez took over as coach he has been playing alot, and I must say he's impressing me now, has been solid in the whole of play off 2 (also against OHL :( ) and is looking like he's going to be a first starter now.

Happy to hear about that. He's not a great RB, but he usually gets the job done (at least in Mallorca he did), never really understood why we let him go.

How is Víctor Fernández doing? I personally like him, he has achieved some really impressive stuff in Spain, however ever since he was sacked by Zaragoza in 2008 (which btw was a huge mistake, completely against what the fans wanted and ended up with the club relegated), his carreer seemed to go downhill. He was a very promising manager, linked to RM a dozen times during the 90s and early 00s, but he was never given the chance to manage a big club and his carreer never took off completely.

And how is JC Garrido doing?

Wel before Fernandez came Gent was in crisis, almost getting into relegation trouble (normally gent is a top 6 team) but when Fernandez came he took over really wel and produced nice team work, altough there is only one top scorer (mboyo) with 17 goals and the rest with 3 goals or less, the team still performs great.
Not to mention the fact that Fernandez is a very nice jolly guy, great to see how coach aswell during matches, ussualy brings on great tactical subs.
Gent is currently playing a 2 leg game with Standard for a chance to play EL, I'm hoping for Gent to go trough since they really stepped up a notch after Fernandez came, definatly liking the way he manages.

As for Garrido, I'm not sure what to think of him. He took over at club brugge at crisis, made the club relative stable ending 3rd this year which means they will play EL. But he has some weird tactics. He kept moving players into positions they are not even close to knowing (such as Odjidja who is a cm-> rb, meunier who is a rw-> rb etc) those positions all fail except for one. Donk who was playing CB, was now put into DM, a role that really suits him, however Leekens (prev club coach) did the same thing.

Garrido during interviews is also a negative imo, never actually answers a question.

If I had to choose from the two I would definatly pick Fernandez

and while writing this Gent just scored vs standard, guess who. Yup Mboyo

I'll give a more detailed opinion on the coaches/spanish players if you want ;)

That is already a pretty detailed answer, I just want to keep track every now and then of these guys :D

Glad to hear about Víctor Fernández doing well. As you say, he's a nice guy and good manager, hope he carries on like this. He's one of those guys one feel's that football hasn't rewarded his talent and effort in a fair way.

And I agree, Garrido isn't a nice guy. As a manager he did a great job with the B-team, but when he got promoted to the first team he dug his own grave by never rotating players, he had a great first season (although carried by Cazorla, Rossi and Borja Valero), but he crashed in the econd season because the players were all worn out. Is he doing the position changing thing to keep the same players on the team instead of giving playtime to some of the players on the bench? That's the kind of stuff he woould do in Villarreal, I would have expected he learnt from the disaster he caused.

Well from what it seems he's thinking that he shouldn't make the same mistakes, instead he's rotating the squad to much, I dont think he has had the same squad for 2 matches in a row the entire season. The reason he changes positions of players is because he's hoping he'll find a hidden gem in the squad, but this year the only brugge player that has stepped up is Maxime lestienne, and his position never changed

He needs to find a balance between rotating players but also keeping the same team, brugge has enough talent to keep it that way. As sad as it is to say the best manager they had in the few years was Daum, but his football was god awefull, they did get the points tho.

Oh, he did that too during his last 2 months in Villarreal before he was sacked. The team was horrid and he started changing everything all the time... none of his changes worked but he never really gave a chance to these changes either. It seemed like after one bad month he got nervous and insecure, loosing his faith in his decisions and constantly changing them. I'm surprised he's acting in a similar way when things aren't going bad.

Well you can't say things are going great either, it's been a while since Club won the title and everyone tought this year was theirs. Obviously no one expected Zulte Waregem to come second, but a third place twice in a row is dissapointing for the club.

Also something that really touched me now with fernandez is this, Gent was playing their last match in their old stadium, a place that was sacred for them. All the Gent fans invaded the pitch to say goodbye to the stadium, and even tho Fernandez has only been at the club for a few months, he made it look like he was the coach of gent for 15+ years, like he made the stadium. Really touching to see him care so much for the team. He's definatly in my good books after today. (match was won by Gent with 1-0 btw)
