thanks... if we loose today we are automaticaly relegated, if we win we will still have a chance since the other teams are also terrible and keep giving us and the rest of their rivals chances; the relegation barrier might be set at 36 points, which is ridiculous

Mallorca 1 - 0 Betis

We're not dead yet B)

We had a ton of chances in the first half, but we only scored one and missed all the rest; I couldn't help but remembering all the other games where the same thing happened and we ended up loosing... it got worse when in the 2nd half we were totally dominated for 20 minutes. But then my boys started to work things out completely nullified Betis. Also, Geromel, who had been shit all season, was fantastic today and led the defense to our 2nd clean sheet in 8 months. Lots of suffering but we got the 3 points we needed to keep the impossible dream alive.

Now Vicente Calderón awaits. I hope Atlético is distracted with the celebration of the Copa...

I know, but we need the win against Atlético.

Loss -> relegation
Draw -> relegation unless Depor looses in Málaga and Zaragoza doesn't win in Betis' stadium; they'd later need to loose their home games against Real Sociedad and Atlético... and Celta can't win both their matches against Valladolid and Espanyol
Win -> relegation only if Depor, Zaragoza and Osasuna (plays home against Sevilla) also win their games

So yeah, it's pretty much impossible, but we must fight until the end! Atlético is currently in Singapore playing a friendly and will celebrate the cup title before the match aganst us... hopefully they will be somewhat jet lagged and distracted from the celebration :D

If we do win, we should have a huge chance, because all of our rivals are playing against teams that are fighting for EL/CL, except for Celta (who is beneath us anyway, so if we win both of our matches they won't catch us; and Osasuna's last game, but it's in Bernabeu so a win would be unlikely).

I can't say I epect a win though, it does look really bad, but one must have a bit of faith :P

this is pretty neat, and a fantastic timekiller if you are bored: http://www.marca.com/multimedia/futbol/calculadora-liga/index.html

Almost all combinations possible relegate us, but if we do get that win in Calderón, it looks pretty good (although that means nothing in the last games of a season).

thanks for the support :D

tbh, I don't know if Courtois will play. Not playing these last 2 games would secure the Zamora award (although he has a 5 goal lead over Valdés, so only a catastrophe would make him loose it), and it would allow Asenjo to get some playtime... considering Atlético has nothing to fight for and with the Copa finished there's no need to keep him playing regularly, it wouldn't be surprising if he was benched.

Courtois won't be hurt by staying in the bench for 2 games, on the other hand it would be more notable the benefit Asenjo would get for playing 2 games.
