Mallorca will be playing home against Almería tomorrow.

Decisive game. Almería are 6 points ahead and also fighting to avoid relegation, losing to them would be game over. It's going to be an intense and tough game... they're in good form after sacking their manager and have collected 20 points in the last 11 games. We'll have to give our best, because a win is a must!

Mallorca 1 - 0 Almería :D

Very solid performance, with very good attitude from the players. It's a shame we just can't score our chances... my heart suffers every game when we should be winning without too many problems. Anyway, this is a vital win for us. We're now two points from the safety line with 3 games to go. I'm pretty sure 7 will suffice, but in any case the next game is a must win (another home game, this time against Numancia, a team that will likely not be fighting for anything... it depends on tomorrow's games, they could have a small chance of fighting for promotion playoffs or a very small chance of relegating).

well, that was a strange game indeed. leverkusen playing like you would have expected them to play before the season started, one of their best performances against one of your worst i am sure. still, grats to an overall very good season and good luck in europe, do us proud!

How has Bojan been doing btw?

well, if you had asked me that before the bayern match, i would have told you that i couldn't believe how terrible he was - awful decision making, no confidence, losing possessions faster than rooney losing his hair.

however, he had a very good performance in munich and after that, he was quite solid for us, made a very good match against frankfurt last week. not unexpectedly, he couldn't really replace malli, but from time to time you could sense his raw talent and skill. he's clearly not a born leader though to put it nicely.

since we don't have a buyout clause, i fully expect him to return to stoke this summer and quite honestly, i'm not TOO unhappy about it. his pricetag of about € 8-10 million should be too expensive for us - even if you're optimistic and assume that he would improve considerably, playing a whole pre-season with the team. now i'm aware that it might be a bit unfair to judge a player like this who joined mid season, but since you asked...

our best hope is to sign one or two experienced and not too expensive players, otherwise keep the main players of our squad, and hope that injuries won't plague us as bad as they did this season and i'm confident we can play another solid year in bundesliga.
also, i'm glad we stuck to our manager when things got tight towards the business end of the season. i really like him and don't blame him at all for the bad results and performances...

mainz really deserves a lot of credit for their calm and smart managing
what you didnt list at all were the el games, it has become a pattern that smaller clubs suffer in the league when they made the european competition (freiburg will face the same problem next season i guess)

i am sure you will be solid next season, dont forget the league has some fresh cash incoming with the new tv deal ^_^

meanwhile in hamburg people are burning fireworks for fucks sake

well, obviously europe league is ALWAYS a big factor for small clubs, but to be completely fair, our injury woes did not start there, and they didn't end with our early exit either.

generally speaking it's no surprise that our teams tend to go out early in that competition because they are mostly the clubs that did surprisingly well one season and then lose their best players and have to rebuild while playing an additional competition.
obviously no one refuses the additional money (for german clubs at least it's pretty significant) and prestige for the club, that comes with playing international football, but yes - it can backfire pretty hard...

Well thanks for the input. I was just curious to see if he had changed, but it seems like it's the same story as always... flashes of skill here and there, but over all unable to turn his talent into good consistent performances. Although at least he had his good days in the final stretch, when you needed him the most.

I think he needs a club to settle, but like I said back then I really don't think he's physically adequate for top level league and much less the Bundesliga.

Looks like Lacazette is on his way to Atlético, if their transfer ban is lifted.

OL's president has said that the player wants a new experience and that they are willing to let him out if their demands are met. He also said that they've accepted his wish to only negotiate with Atlético.

And Lacazette has said he's excited about playing with Griezmann, with whom he has a very close friendship, so, assuming that both players have talked about the subject since they are friends, it's likely that Griezmann is going to stay.

For Atlético, yes ^^

Keeping Griezmann is important and they are in need of a striker that can score consistently. Lacazette has been prolific over the last few seasons, so he seems like a safe bet. The only question is if he'll be able to adapt to Cholo's system, which many players have failed to do (especially strikers... Mandzukic, Jackson Martínez, Vietto, Gameiro, etc).

It will also be important to see how much they are going spend on Lacazette. If they blow all of the budget on him then they won't be able to sign other good players and imo they need a class playmaker, a RW, a LB and maybe another midfielder.
