Why not Müller as winger and Klose as spearhead? Why not Lahm as CB and Khedira as controlling mid?
exactly. it's so obvious (lahm as fb of course, cb = centreback) - and so easy to change too. we all have seen what happened when a proper winger (schürrle) and was introduced, mustafi got injured and lahm put on the position he's one of the world's best at? suddenly we seized control of the game...
but this idiot of a coach just wants to do it his way, he has a "vision" and no matter how bad we play he just sticks to his plan, doesn't make the changes. i'm serious about my statement that it's unfortunate our players are just too good and our opponents so far just too weak for us to get punished and for löw to get exposed... now it's too late because we're in the quarters once again...
and i fully understand mertesucker's outburst from yesterday (basically, he got mad at a reporter who correctly stated that it didn't look very skillful or confident) - it's not the players' fault ffs! if the coach doesn't play them to their strengths and basically puts blanks on such crucial positions in modern football like the fullbacks - what do you expect? why don't these retarded journalists stop sucking löw's dick and ask HIM why he makes such bullshit personal and tactical decisions?!

Has Germany ever considered playing in a 3-5-2 esque formation? Use Lahm as a sort of RWB, Boateng and hummels left and right centrebacks with Per in the middle, Durm perhaps as lwb?
we played a proper 3-5-2 in a test match vs. ukraine back in 2011 and it failed horribly, the game ended 3:3 and literally every single counter attack was a goal. also we dont even have enough proper centre backs to form a worldclass back four so i would not support the idea...

Low trying to act like van Gaal by playing players out of their positions
oh yes, he always tries to imitate better and great coaches, his false 9 idea and possession obsession from spain, playing players out of position like that from van gaal and guardiola, the 3-5-2 from juve iirc... and mostly it fails horribly...
one more word about mustafi: i don't hate the guy personally. i'm sure he's been giving his best and i don't blame him for his bad performances. the point is: he's not a fullback, he's a centre back. he was trained as cb, he exclusively plays that position for his clubs and to be quite honest, he runs, dribbles, passes and crosses like a centre back. and none of this is his fault.
if the coach says "listen, mustafi - you play right back" i understand that he doesn't just say "but coach, there are players here who actually learned how to play that position, who can run, pass and cross properly and had a good season for a better club than mine, why don't you give them a chance first?" - no, he wants to prove himself and is glad to play for germany, completely understandable.
but for löw to be so stubborn and arrogant and let him do that in 3 games just to prove he was right to pick him is just ridiculous and honestly it's not only unfair towards the fullbacks but also to mustafi himself.
the guy is out of the tournament (i.e. the france game) due to injury now and of course i'm not glad about his injury (or any player's injury for that matter, i know how it feels and it's really the worst feeling in the world) but given löw's stubbornness i have to say it's the best thing that could have happened to the team - unfortunately...
