Wayne is more than capable of playing up front on his own, he was voted the best striker in the world in 2011.

well a year ago, or even half a year ago i would have agreed and i'm pretty sure i actually said that he deserves to get another shot in the national team. right now he's not in such a good form, he had a weak 2nd half of the season (scored 9 in his first 14 games, and only 6 in the last 20) and he's not a player who can just compensate form with class tbh... still, imo he would have been a decent choice. just like volland, lasogga or maybe kruse.
since gomez was injured almost all season i can understand he wasn't picked but we just don't have a really good striker except from him and klose, that's the simple truth. and if a good one isn't available at least pick a decent one as backup imo... instead he wastes the extremely gifted götze as "false 9" where he proved to be utter useless... it's so frustrating, really...

Out of those volland certainly would be first choice
Had a great season, insane workhorse as well
But for me he's Never been a real striker

i actually agree with all of this, but i still think he would have been a better striker than götze or poldi or whatever brilliant plan our tactical mastermind jogi löw is thinking of...

Has Volland played as a striker before for Hoffenheim? I feel it's quite a shame he's not going after a great season

yes he has. mostly as a winger though... imo he's just a little too small to play as a "classical" striker. still...

USA fan here coming in peace.

I'm going to be in Germany on the 26th for the USA vs Germany game, looking for a fun hangout to go watch the game with some locals and have some fun banters any ideas?

you can expect many public events in every major city here in germany, especially when our team is playing and in 99% of the places ppl won't be hostile even if you guys win. where exactly will you be?

My buddy lives near the Austrian border like 10 miles into Germany. But we may make a trip to a major city for a great time ( so if you know a great spot in any city let me know)

If Germany wins I'll be sad but I'll party all night with everyone :)

If USA somehow wins I'm not going to gloat so I won't be starting g starting anything.

well by american standards it's probably nothing but for a european, the border between austria and germany is quite long so that doesn't really help.
but i'm not from bavaria anyway (although i have relatives down there who actually DO live just a stone's throw away from austria between rosenheim and kufstein) so i can't help you with that - shouldn't your buddy know where to go, assuming he's german and lived there for a while?
