just before this game they talked about him on sky, what a complete defender he already is and how much frankfurt is missing him right now

mascarell looks decent enough, huge workrate and all

Well that's great to hear. Since it's almost certain that Pepe won't be offered an extension (unfortunately imo), we're going to need Vallejo to have made the best of his spell in Frankfurt, so he's ready to play for us and keep progressing and developing. I saw potential in him, but I honestly had doubts that he'd develop enough in only one year... so I'm very happy to see that he has already become a key player in team like Eintracht.

And lol at Mascarell. He had the same carding problem with Sporting, I think. Never got to watch him enough to form an opinion, but he didn't seem that great or relevant to the team. But to be fair the whole Sporting squad last season was pretty poor... them and Granada were lucky to face teams that that had nothing to fight for at the end of the season while Getafe and Rayo faced teams that still needed points, and that's probably the only reason they avoided relegation (and so this season they are getting slammed). So I guess I was wrong about him... good for him if he has stepped up his performances, maybe he just needed more playtime and better team mates to perform.

Thanks for the input. I don't think he'd be a starter in any case, but rather the 4th CB of the team, getting playtime in Copa games and some minor Liga and CL games to gain experience. It's pretty obvious that Ramos and Varane will be our starting CBs next season, with Nacho, who has been excellent this year, as the main backup.

imo it's a shame we are letting Pepe go... I really think we should give him just one more year contract, because he's still our best CB
