Entirely depends on the definition of the term "scorer"... statistics in newspaper usually count in both goals and direct assists.
Outcome is the same though: All you could say is that Suarez was the better scorer.

Statistics are still not the only way to measure quality.
Nobody can currently touch Messi's position as the best player in the world, let alone Barcelona.

But suppose a trend would happen with these players and for the following years, as I stated earlier, Suarez would become the antagonist for Barcelona. Leading Barcelona in goals and assists. Would he be the new club favorite?

Messi is not only the best striker in Barça, Messi is the best midfielder too.

Luis Suárez can score 150 goals in a single season and will be the second best at the most.
