man that's shitty. always the same knee?
also, how prestigious is this award exactly because i recall you bringing it up a couple of times before. i always thought it was kind of silly because a good defense is obviously part of not conceding, but if it's a big thing in spain, something ppl actually pay attention to, then it obviously sucks too. not as much as the injury i'm sure but only 3 games away... well, just shitty in every single way...
Regarding the knee, that was the case until this time. The first 3 times it was the right knee, but this time it's the left one. Really sucks, now he know that both of them are a problem...
Hope he recovers well. It's a shame how these injuries have fucked up his career. I remember when he was playing for Valladolid at age 18, evryone agreed that he was the biggest prospect in goal since Casillas; he looked destined for glory, but then came that first major injury...
Regarding the Zamora award, yes it's prestigious. Not as much as the Pichichi award, but it's definitely something people talk about and it has a long history (both the Pichichi and Zamora awards were created in the early 50s and have featured prominently in the media ever since). I agree it's a bit silly because of the defense helping you (I always felt like it should be goals conceded per shot on goal, rather than goals conceded per game), but then again one could always argue that the strikers competing for the Pichichi award depend on how good their surrounding players are, how many penalties they take and what kind of system they play in (although the impact isn't as great as in the Zamora's case ofc).
Over all, in terms of prestige, I'd say the awards go like this:
1. Pichichi award to the top scorer (easily the most important one, the media will always talk about it)
2. Zamora award to best keeper based on goal conceded per game (as explained, the media pays attention to it, but it's not as important as Pichichi because people are aware that a solid defense goes a long way)
3. Zarra award to the top spanish scorer (the award itself isn't as important, it's mostly just important for the player because it greatly increases their chances of being called up or having an important role in the national team... especially now that we constantly change strikers)
4. Miguel Muñoz award to the best manager (not important, as it's subjective and it's based on the added points MARCA gives the managers after every game... when a game is played, the journalist that covered it rates the managers, players and refs from 0-3 and the total is added to determine the award).
5. Di Stefano award to the best player (since adding points could lead to giving the award to the keeper that plays all 38 games, it's completely subjective and elected by a jury, so it's not taken very seriously... also it's a fairly new award, so it has no tradition and has yet to gain the prestige of the other awards)
6. Guruceta award to the best ref (works the same way as the Miguel Muñoz award by adding the points... literally nobody cares about this one

).
e: also, La Liga created some new awards like best defender, best midfielder, best foreign player, etc... but they are all subjective and not taken seriously. The ones I listed are handed out by MARCA and most of them have existed for decades, so these are the ones people care about.
