After the bad run and the terrible result in Valladolid, Mallorca sacked Vázquez on monday. The new manager is Olaizola, who was the b-team's manager and already took over the senior team 2 years ago for a brief spell (when there were only 2 league games left to play). The b.team was doing alright, and he's a very respected person in the club (he was an iconic player and captain during the club's golden age in the 90s and early 00s). He's known for being strict and a motivator, rather than a great tactician. Hope he does well.
Tomorrow morning, Mallorca will play away against Almería. Almería is in the relegation zone despite the fact that they have a decent team (that's just how Segunda works, good players don't guarantee much and there are many teams with a position that's much below their expectations). In their case the bad results are probably due to them being a tactical mess and playing the most kamikaze style football in Segunda. I hope we can take advantage of this, although I expect a hard match as they've only lost one home game so far (they're in relegation because they are utter shit in away games).
Almería 2 - 1 Mallorca
Not much has changed... we played well and missed our chances (including a post and a bar), while Almería netted theirs. Our RB again gifted them a goal with a very silly penalty ffs. The only thing that changed was that we played much more offensively than what we usually played in away games with our former manager. The nice thing was that the team fought until the end and never gave up...
Next up is another complicated away game. It's the last game before the xmas break, so it would be nice to end the year with a good result...
