wow... the hype is real... "so great"?!
he played 77 passes (88% overall, 75% attacking third) which is really low for a designated playmaker in a possession team.
beastateng, a centre back[!], played 92 passes (92% overall, 77% attacking third[!]).
alonso had exactly ONE interception and created exactly ONE of bayerns many chances (from a corner).
he was almost completely invisible in the second half (his first half was solid though i'm not ignoring that)... but playing solid for one half in such a big game is hardly "great" or worth 7.5 mio. / year imo...
i dont know which game you were watching
xabi did a great job
he had to play a little bit different compared to his first games as he had to play higher up the pitch yesterday
he worked hard to shut down the city midfield
one interception is not much, but he picked up so many second balls especially in the second half and helped the center backs out when they got the ball (which does not appear in any stat)
also he did shut down yaya toure when he moved higher up which was extremely important
its not important to always shine in that position
further you could say that the boateng stats you mentioned were possible, because of xabi since he covered for him when he went forward with the ball and was always ready to receive a pass
works pretty nice, i really like that
i know that you are secretly referring to your boy kroos, but he is definitely not missed
our midfield had to be combative yesterday which had been impossible with kroos
88% completion is enough, i can think of dozens of games when other players had like 95% completion and were playing like crap
these statistics dont necessarily indicate a good performance

If he was playing for Man City and had the exact same stats, people would be saying it was money well spent. Germans arn't willing to overpay
fender is right, most clubs in spain and england wouldnt get a license to play in our league, because their finances are so fucked up
