Fulham have revealed they have not received any offers for Clint Dempsey - and discouraged Liverpool or any other interested club from making a move for the United States international.

Speculation has been rife this summer that the 29-year-old is set to link up with the Reds, which was fuelled after a report on the club owner's official website suggested a deal was complete.

Fulham said the report was unfounded and issued a warning to any interested clubs. A club spokesman said: "We have received no offers from any club for Clint Dempsey. We would discourage any club from making a bid for him."
