one simple point about my choice:
- if mou doesn't like me i'll know that as he'll have no problem telling and selling me so i can play somewhere else... he has a good relation to almost all of his players and does everything to protect them even if that means playing the villain for the media. how many former mourinho players do you know who hold a grudge against him?
- if van gaal doesn't like me he'll have no problem throwing me under the bus, questioning my work ethic or professionalism in public to draw away attention from his own mistakes and keeping me on the bench for a season to punish me...
and i'm not saying mou teams are more fun to watch, hell no, but it's not as bad as people here (especially those who hate him anyway) say all the time. sometimes it's bus parking 101, true, but not most of the time... and since i'm a person who can appreciate the tactical aspect of the game anyway it wouldn't even be a hard coice to make...
Tell that to Iker. He spent half a season saying he will start again once he considers he's in form, only to later admit that he doesn't like him and he prefers taller keepers. Or Pedro León and Canales, who were told to wait for a chance they were never given. Or Adán, who was told he'd be the starting keeper until Casillas regained his form, but one week later Iker suffered a 2 month injury and he signed Diego López and never played Adán again...
He isn't as honest with his player as you might think... he uses anyone and anything for what he considers is the team's benefit. I'm not saying it's a bad thing per se (although it's moraly questionable), he's just a hardline utilitarianist, which can be a risk for the people involved with him.
About his teams being fun to watch and all... yes, I agree with you there. My point was that it might not be so fun for certain players to PLAY in those kind of teams. Several players have criticised having to park the bust in his system, because it's not the type of football they are meant to play.
