We didn’t mock ze Germans, Spain etc when they bottled it and got knocked out, and many of their fans expected them to win it for the 2nd time in a row.

Meanwhile England fans were enjoying the team doing relatively well for the first time in decades and it’s coming home memes.

It’s an inferiority complex plain and simple.

All in all a pretty good showing for England, definitely did better than expected. It almost looked like the team thought it was over after the 1-0. They'll definitely be a threat in 2022 though, with all the young talent.

Croatia impressed me, with their smart subs (the amount of pressing that created in ET was insane!), the relentless energy and as a whole the squad was inexhaustable. Modric, Rakitic and Perisic were so dominant in midfield that England had little choice but the long pass over the wings. Hopefully they can recover decently so we'll have a good final.
