Country is a different thing, you see. While i think nationalism is a stupid idea, why hold an european championship -which is based mostly on that idea -if you are a fan of globalisation and the integration of people from colonies in your country ?
Minimum 3 generations.
according to that rule, klose and podolski could not have played for poland either since their paternal grand parents were german...
again, boateng's mother is german (just like gomez' and khedira's mothers), they were born and raised here and learned to play here. only their fathers have a different nationality so does that mean they can't play for either country according to your "rule"? maybe they're eligible to play for germany if their mother's family lived in germany for 6 generations then? or would they really have to synchronise passports for 3 generations before they can play for a country?
you didn't think that through, did you? you just saw his skin colour and his name and it didn't correlate with your bigoted view of how a german has to look like so you thought you'd share your ignorance with us.
do you know how many great football players your little policy of racial and national purity would have prevented from ever playing for a country? ww2 is over, you know? you're in good company here though, there are other very "smart" people here who didn't get the memo either...
