that guy who scored the last goal in a competitive match in the old wembley stadium when germany won their world cup qualifier 1:0 back in 2000:

the guy that footbridge in wembley should be named after if the english could honour public votes (rip boaty mcboatface):

You know actually Boaty McBoat Face wasn't going to win in the first place. Much like with Dietmar Haman bridge, we had a camaping here geting thousands of spaniard to vote for the ship to be named Blas de Lezo, a one-eyed, one-armed, one-legged admiral who raped the british fleet with a fleet 10 times smaller. The name was banned 3 times before during the first 2-3 days of the voting process (reaching 1st place the fist time and 2nd place the other two iirc) before being completely permabanned.

Spanish humour.

At least we got one of the smaller boats on the ship to be called "Boaty". Democracy sort of wins.

The premier league is overrated, no doubt, but that has nothing to do with us losing vs Iceland, or failing to top the group.

Wales players play in the premier league and the championship. But they still topped our group, beating Russia and Slovakia (which we couldn't do), and then getting to the quarterfinals by beating Northern Ireland.

The FA consistently hire crappy managers that are tactically inept, which is the #1 problem with the England national team in my opinion. The #2 problem is that our managers only choose players from the traditionally 'big' clubs, however at the Euros this year I don't think that made much of a difference.

Hodgson played the qualifiers and friendlies preceding the tournament with a 4-4-2 diamond, or a 4-3-3 with proper wingers like Sterling, Walcott, Townsend, Welbeck. As an international manager you don't get a lot of time with your team, so it's important to use similar players and formations. So what does Hodgson do...on the first game of the Euros vs Russia he plays 4-3-3 with lallana and sterling as wingers, one of which isn't anything close to a winger and the other had a shocking season. In the next 2 games he played Sturridge and Rashford on the wings aswell. It's unfortunate Welbeck got injured and I'm sure Hodgson would have started him, but if you don't bring wingers to the Euros then don't play formations which require wingers. That's just common sense.

Then you can look at how he brought Wilshere who played 1 game for Arsenal this year, and Henderson who also had injuries and performed badly when he did play. Drinkwater and Noble would have been obvious choices based on merit, but our managers don't seem to care about picking players on merit. Defoe could have been an option, or Shawcross instead of Cahill or Stones.

Looking at England teams over the last 15 years when premier league clubs were consistently doing well in the champions league, we weren't any better as a national side. If you think England's problem is a direct result of premier league hype then with all due respect you are quite naive.
