Andy Carroll Update

Andy Carroll has begun light training at Melwood.
After Carroll's £35m transfer to the Reds, some newspapers began circulating rumours that his thigh injury was more serious than first thought and that the striker would be out for the rest of the season. However, Kenny Dalglish has dismissed the rumours as nonsense.

"Somebody’s going to write something," said the boss.

"We said at the beginning he'll be a few weeks, there’s nothing sinister in it, it's a few weeks.

"He's been thoroughly checked over, he's progressing well, I don't think the people who have made that assessment have a good chance of being wrong.

"We never gave you a date for his return and we won't.

"He's progressing very well and we said it would be several weeks.

"We signed him for five and a half years, not a few weeks.

"As long as we are patient and Andy is patient then we'll be okay.

"We won't be rushing him back."

Very unfortunate that we're missing those two this game, however, excited that Suarez is getting his first start!

Good luck to the Reds!!

Al Habsi, Gohouri, Gary Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa, N'Zogbia, Watson, McCarthy, Diame, Moses, Rodallega. Subs: Pollitt, Di Santo, Steven Caldwell, Gomez, Cleverley, McArthur, Stam.
