Right about captaincy, but I don't think he felt "needed" at PSG and i'm pretty sure he wants to be a first choice centreback, to whatever clubs he decides to join. Could be trouble with the players, if his next destination is Arsenal.

I agree that Sakho would be a greater choice in many aspects, but to split up a partnership with Koscielny and Mertesacker, right now, when they're doing great, can be crucial towards the season, could be the same history as last season.

I didn't know Vermaelen wasn't fit yet, but he will be back soon, right?

- Right now I think a holding midfielder is far more important and maybe a world class striker. Giroud is doing great and is in great form, but i'm not sure if he can be up with the best boys and I think Arsenal needs just that.

Yeah wouldn't break their partnership right now, but Sakho could still be a really usseful defender to have, and Vermaelen is still out for a while, and knowing it's his back that's the issue, he will take a while to come back.

A DM is what we need yeah, was hoping for Gustavo but that deal didn't go trough because we only wanted to pay 14M, Giroud has been a different player beginning of the pre season, he seems to have adjusted to England now and I'm sure he can find his way in the team, I'm still 100% sure that he is one of the most underrated strikers around, simply for the fact he does more than just score goals.

Spot on mate! Well maybe there is a chance that Vermaelen could be converted to a DM, it is an possibility and that would mean garuanteed time on the field, also add steel to the core of the midfield. It's only a thought though.

I don't think it's the right time for Arsenal to be cheap, I mean the money is there and clearly, there is positions that needs to be strengthed, so just pay the price and get on with it. It could prove to pay off in the end.

I agree, Giroud is better than what people think, but i'm not sure he can be at the level of RVP. I know he will get better year by year, as he will feel more confident in the league etc... He already makes some great runs and positioning is great aswell, dangerous on headers, strong and helps in the midfield.

I've always had the idea of Vermaelen at DM, he's a great attacking player, and last season showed that he sometimes needs someone behind him in case his interception goes wrong.

It's not that we haven't made any bids on players, not at all. The 40m bid on suarez surprised me, it's just the other clubs that overbid us to get the players we want (Gustavo, Bernard, Capoue, etc)

It's hard to get on the level as RvP is right now, so we shouldn't compare them at all. I think RvP is a completely different player, Giroud gets more assists and plays in the arsenal way more (passing wise) sometimes we need that ego centric behaviour RvP had tho.

Agree, he is always very aggressive in his play, as you mentioned, if it goes wrong, it could cost goals, just like it did last season, but I actually like the idea of Vermaelen as DM, more I think of it. Also he has some great passing skills and longshots, he is also very dangerous on corners.

I couldn't believe it myself (40m on Suarez) :) but then again, could just have secured Higuain earlier, by paying more. Same goes for Gustavo. Capoue i'm not sure, if Arsenal were even chasing him, when the window opened, or they just pulled out right ahead.

RVP is on top of the world right now, so it wouldn't be far to compare them, you're right, but you get my point ;)

Well we never actually made a bid for Higuain, despite what people think.

I'm confident Wenger will make atleast one brilliant signing this transfer window, his transfers often come out of the blue. Like the Arteta one, and what a signing he turned out to be :)

I didn't know that about Higuain, hmm funny fact :) lol

For sure, he is a master of spotting talent, no doubt, but Arteta was a panic transfer, even if he turned out good or not :) for the sake of Arsenals fans, I just hope that he make a great signing.

Perhaps he could even try and chase Lewandowski, I mean I know he will not be easy to get and all, but he has 1 year left of his contract(I'm pretty sure) and BVB didn't want to sell to a rival(just like Liverpool), so there is a possiblity and Giroud would work even harder to show his worth.

Also they could maybe visit City for a DM, they seemed to be stacked up already: Toure, Garcia, Rodwell, Barry :) maybe there is a chance Arsenal could tempt one of them to hand in a transfer request, to get play time ;)

We were linked to Barry a few days ago, don't really rate him at all.

As for Lewa, again I don't really rate him, he scores alot of goals yet but i'm not the biggest fan of him. Don't see him as a possible transfer at all because Dortmund would want a lot even tho he's only on 1 year left.

I don't see Barry to be potential for Arsenal, neither do I see Toure leaving City, but Rodwell and Garcia, could be tempted.

30-40m should do it ;) but then again i'm not sure how he will do in PL. I'm sure he will get his goals, but not sure if he will be THAT good. He is still young tho, so time is on his side :)
