here is a statistic.. you get points for european matches on the highest level (cl and el)

its a serios statistic.. used for many years by uefa.. and shows that spain and germany got better teams.

Fifa uses similar system. country gets points for winning aswell.

nope.. you can also get points in uninportant games.. and you wont play against the strongest teams.. so this fifa ranking is a joke.

belgium did not play against germany or other top teams.

in cl and el you can see the best teams in europe playing against each other.

Not always do you have to play better teams in the groups tho

you need to defeat the strongest teams to get the most points for your country..
look @ spain.. they won cl and el.. thats the reason why its the best league.
many english teams failed in the last years.. thats why they lost points and are third at the table.

edit: also EVERY team who plays in the cl.. hve proven their quality because they won their league or something.. the cl or el is like a wc for national clubs.. you need to qualify.

the ec qualify is nothing against the cl and el.. because you can also see teams like gibraltar or something.. and thats why you cannot take the fifa ranking seriosly.
