well, the "current mainstream" is islamophobic imo - not that it makes any difference in my personal evaluation what's mainstream and what isn't, but especially amongst the lesser educated and intelligent people (who are a majority in every country), i think it's a broadly accepted thing to say "i have nothing against islam BUT (insert random negative generalisation)"...
and this is how it begins. i thought that especially in germany, our generations should have learned from previous ones, but obviously this isn't true and it's a sad thing to witness. those people who blow themselves up and murder innocent human beings in the name of their god or whatever are absolute scum, i don't think anybody disagrees with that. However, as soon as we skip the step where we differenciate between individuals and ethnic / religious / national groups, "profiling" them by their beliefs / skin colour / name... we're ACTIVELY repeating the mistakes of our ancestors who were - for the most part - mislead and influenced to do it.
sure, you could make the point, that the jews never "attacked" us violently and that this is a big difference, but then you're completely denying the historic context. ignoring the decades of western occupation and warmongering under false pretenses in islamic states, which again, doesn't justify terror of this sort, but definitely explains why radical preachers find so many people to follow their ridiculous and hateful ideas...
