"As I was talking to them there was a charge. Police officers just charged a group of Leicester fans who were, as far as I could tell, just walking past and chatting to each other.
"Three of them were pushed to the floor and hit with batons and bundled into the back of vans and taken away."
He said: "We [witnessed] police targeting groups of people, smashing beers from tables and even them throwing chairs towards the fans as well charging with batons and riot shields."
People chatting in Madrid. Such savage behaviour must be kept in check.
Plenty of people on the forum saying they are sat in the area they were told to sit in, drinking beer as always and chanting and getting hit for it. Undoubtedly there are people there causing trouble, but there are plenty of people getting hit that are doing nothing.
If you're quoting parts of the article you posted, you might as well quote this bit too:

However, supporter June Webb - who was in the square - said some ticketless fans told her they liked to make a nuisance of themselves and "expected trouble later".
Obviously the people who were bruised are all going to be saying they didn't do anything, and Leicester forums and local media will have an inevitable bias. The thing is the majority of Leicestar fans that were in Plaza Mayor weren't asked to leave, it was just a few (8 from what I read)... nobody can know for certain if it was all off the kicked out hooligans that were drinking, pissing on the street and injuring policemen... but if there were innocent fans among the troublemakers then common sense should tell them to stay away from those idiots or shit can happen to them otherwise. Like I said, it's always a few idiots that ruin everything for the majority of "normal" fans.
If you look at videos of the hooligans chanting during the afternoon (before the incidents), you can already see that the Plaza Mayor is full of litter and beer cans all over the place... it's not exemplary behaviour, and I'm actually surprised it took the police that long to establish some order, because on a normal day if a group of friends start drinking in the middle of the Plaza Mayor then 2 minutes later they'll find themselves with a 600€ fine and their drinks confiscated.
Not sure why you are upset about this. You should be celebrating it... if spanish fans cause problems in the UK then I hope the bobbies give them a proper whacking.
