Unfortunately it's probably going to hurt the club's image big time.
Most of the people who jumped on the wagon last season were football romantics who saw in Leicester an inspiring underdog that represented something different to what big clubs and "modern football represenented", and sacking Ranieri is about the least romantic decision they could make.
They will obviously never lose the fans that live in Leicester and have always supported the club, but many of the thousands of people from around the world that started liking Leicester last season and were a potential market that could help the club develop now feel betrayed and will probably lose interest in the club. The whole bending to the players rather than the manager who pulled off the miracle doesn't help either.
You should have kept Ranieri until june and stuck to a romantic identity rather than a pragmatic one imo. I think it would have helped the club in the long term.
yeah, just look at the shitstorm right now (which is exaggerated in my opinion)
as irvine pointed out, putting all romance aside he did a terrible job this season
i think the owners took the image damage into account, but i would also say that relegation, losing loads of money and like half your squad would hurt the club far more
i have seen some "keep ranieri even if relegated and then just walk into the prem again" comments.....the championship is pretty rough
