nop, you're wrong about that. it's one of the very few situations there actually is an official interpretation out for, and it has been judged accordingly (and correctly) in this case: the ball hits another part of his body first and from there, without a fault or intention of the player, is deflected to his arm - this is not a punishable offense according to the current official ruling guidelines.

'in the context of this season' makes it even more wrong than your initial claim, since this is the ONE type of situation that has been clearly communicated and consistently ruled as NOT being a punishable offense this season. you could say there were penalties given that FELT more unfair, and i'd immediately agree with you, but that is not my point here. there is a specific official interpretation of this exact TYPE of situation, and it was judged accordingly after reviewing the footage. there is literally no objective reason to claim this is the wrong decision in ANY context.

i don't know if you didn't quite get that or if you're looking for a way to justify your 'shocking decision' evaluation, but it's simply not true...

sorry, but are you simply dense, or are you deliberately moving the goal post because you can't admit you're wrong on this? there is no consistent ruling concerning handballs in general this season, that much is true.
however, there IS consistent ruling that has been communicated officially for this specific kind of situation, i've explained that three times now.

does that make many of the handballs given appear even more unfair by comparison? probably. is it enough to clear up the whole general confusion? obviously not. but was it the right call in this situation? yes, definitely - even 'in the context of this season'.
