Vs what opposition did Iniesta and Xavi excel at this point in time (I know Spain faced Italy in the groups...) ? its too early to claim "best euro performance ever", as we'll have to wait and see how he plays vs Germany and Portugal/Wales, but if he plays at the same level he has previously, and France go on to win the cup, I dare say it'll be one of the ~ top 3 best performances at a Euro cup, ever.
I read somewhere that Zidane held the record for chances create at a Euro cup in 2000 with 15 chances.
Payet created 14 in his first two matches alone. And he's scored three goals. Two of them wonder goals. And how many assists, 2? 3?
I doubt Payet can do anything that could turn his performances into the best ever in the Euro, when you have guys like Platini, who in 1984 scored 9 goals (scoring in all 5 matches, including the final, and netting 2 hattricks along the way) managing to lead a mediocre side to their first ever Euro title (France had yet to qualify for a Euro at the time, as they hosted both 1960 and 1984 events but didn't make it to any other Euro tournaments until 1988, when they qualified for the first time ever).
