these play offs are just as bad as the relegation games here in germany

complete joke imo, that the 6th gets to primera instead of the 3rd because of two fucking games
there were already over 40 in segunda

so unfair

It's obviously not the fairest system, but imo it's better than what we had before with the top 3 directly promoting. With only 7/22 spots in the table where something actually happens (promotion/relegation), the last 4-5 weeks of the competition were almost always a complete joke with half of the teams not fighting for anything and giving away easy points to opponents that needed them.

Now that 10/22 spots mean something, the competition is still intense until the end of the season. After all you still have 2 spots that give you direct promotion... if you finish 3rd then tough luck.

It would be better if they removed the away goal rule in the playoffs (and not just the pk shootouts) though, so that if the aggregate score was a draw then the team that had a better league postion would promote. It would be more fair, as the teams that did better during the season would have a deserved advantage.

Speaking of changes, the belgian divisions are to be completely changed in the next two seasons.

This is the new format (in dutch)

What is says is;

First division:

Top 6 teams dont change, they play their play off 1
Teams 7-15 go to play off 2 which consists of 12 teams in two groups of 6. 9 teams from the first division and 3 teams from the second division, however those 3 teams from the second division can't get promoted.
Team 16 gets relegated no questions asked.

Second division:

first competition consists of 14 matches.
Second competition consists of 14 matches starting from scratch.
The two teams who were first on the competitions play vs eachother and the team that wins gets promoted.

Number 2-3 and 4 get to play in play off 2 just for the fun of it.

Man I hope this makes sense

you are making a fair point, i cant argue with that at all
i am just one of the old fashioned guys and for me the table after 34, 38 or even more the games should count and i hate it when teams are rewarded for being worse the entire season
las palmas has almost 20 points more than zaragoza, 7 more victories in the campaign

on second thought, its fairer than our 1st league vs 2nd league system since there wont be a 60mio team facing a 4mio team
still dont like it, just saying :D

To be honoust a change was needed and this is the best possible solution so far (altho the 3 clubs from second division playing play off 2 makes no sense.)

Very nice goal for Las Palmas

Deserved 1-0 so far, although Zaragoza had a few good chances aswell.

Yep, the away goal rule applies. A 3-1 would also work after ET since there are no pks.

Yeah... the first 30 minutes of the game were nice though.

The way things are atm though, Las Palmas will begin sieging Zaragoza's box more and more though, so I expect the last 10-15 minutes to be intense.
