This, he would simply get a massive fine.

nop. and i'm surprised you'd say this since i actually expected it to be the same in benelux / uk & ireland / scandinavia...

i mean it's not even strictly a "first world" criteria since there are some countries that are technically "first world" but i wouldn't be surprised if it was like chile: italy, spain, portugal, turkey, greece... just to name a few... but i thought you'd get the picture...
then again, i can't REALLY tell how it'd be in those countries, i just always thought quite highly of the benelux / scandinavian / british legal systems and their general sense of justice...

only thing i can tell you for sure is that you're wrong to think a german player would get away with it...

I'm pretty sure England wouldn't let people get away with shit like that.

Jose Mourinho was given a 6month driving ban and fine for going 60mph on a 50mph road so doubt someone would get away with DUI.

Can't say I remember anyone ever trying it though, so really couldn't be sure.

agree with fender 100% here

there is no chance a german guy would get away with such a serious offense
straight to jail, a huge fine and national career would be over in a heartbeat

How about Reus? He simply got a massive fine for driving without a driving license and got 6 offences..

Driving without a license is in my opinion far worse, I'm not saying what Vidal did isn't bad but this is a one time thing, while Reus had 6 offences already.

well, i guess there is no right or wrong here, but lets also keep in mind the following for reus
he had these speed limit offences and while any normal guy gets his data checked first (is there a license under that name etc) they just gave him the fine until a genius finally found out that he has no license at all (meanwhile reus even posed at car advertising  )
so nobody checked him and his driving was not really suspicious since many guys with big cars have speed offences ^^

vidal on the other hand could have killed/seriously harmed people, because he was drunk like fuck and could not afford a cab

Reus could easly have gotten into accidents aswell, the only thing is that Vidal actually crashed his car.
