Ballon d'or is a shit award and proves nothing imo. Tactical voting happens at such individual awards which takes away any credibility. Friends vote for friends and club mates vote for others who do not have a chance at winning it. Sometimes the best player does not have a good team at international level or they just flop totally at that level.. (messi, ronaldo)
correlation doesn't mean there is a causation because of other factors that can affect such a thing such as injuries, shit international team, flop at the wc, tired from current season.. and many more
