Imo, Scholes is the best United player ever, saying that he's not even close to Zidane is harsh.

scholes was top quality, but not a world number 1 like zidane. different classes. But i can see why you can rate scholes highly, technically he was superb.

you canno't compare scholes to zidane because zidane was a true leader in madrid and on the france team, sir alex was the leader of man united, zidane performences with france was outstanding, just look at zidane vs brazil in 2006, that was an amazing performance by him.

gerrard i would rate at the level of scholes and the other english greats , what is even better with gerrard did not have the talent that scholes had(people around liverpool didnt think gerrard would become a great player), but gerrards big heart, fighting spirit and supreme leadership made him what he was imo.

Not better than Ronaldo or George Best. He was highly consistent and played good football for like 20 years but never once would I give him a ballon d'or in those 20 years. He's definitely one of those players that should win a lifetime/career award though. Same applies to Gerrard and Lampard (who actually came second in the FIFA world player of the year 2005 after Ronaldinho) and players like Pirlo, Ballack, Iniesta and Xavi (though the last two have numerous runner ups) and not Zidane who's in the same boat as Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Platini, Cristiano, Cruyff etc..
