Too bad his ego wasn't in the way because his starting 11 and positioning was absolute shit, almost every player was played out of position.

oh but it was in the way for the longest time. fortunately more and more people realised it and talked about it and the injury helped too so...
the problem ofc is that now there's no reason for him to retire. on the other hand spain fortunately underperformed so he will most likely not fail copy any ideas from them this time.
but then again, what van gaal did was (mostly, still think the goalie swap was a mistake longterm) impressive so he will fail copy there maybe...

don't really consider our performances that great this wc, but the good thing is that nobody else was better
