There is litteraly no sign of progress. Any side that had a new coach and are now successful almost always showed signs of progress.

does Zizou's 2nd run at RM count as progress?

we've sold first team players and replaced them with academy players. ideally we would have signed a couple more and slowly intro the academy youngsters.
the signings has to be right. or at least has a high chance of being a successful signing. when we were linked with mane everyone balked at his ability. me included. scouse cants ended up having the last laugh.
now we are linked with that bournemoth striker. give the club time to sort out the replacements. in the meantime, support ole and the team.

pessimists, toxic or straight forward? that's 90% of our fan base now.

the players that needed to go were shown the door.

alexis
lukaku
smalling
darmian
tree
antonio

pogba next year

and then, not replacing all of them is akin to seeking a death wish. or at least what our fellow ''fans'' say nowadays.
would all of you be patient for a season or 2. take 2-4 transfer windows. get the correct players in. slowly allow ole to build a team.
or would you want woodward to go out throw all that money on players that could be big on reputation and then become anything but big when they arrive?

these are the players we have bought post saf. let this sink in

fred
dalot
grant
lukaku
lindelof
matic
alexis
pogba
mickytaryan
zlatan
bailly
martial
morgan
depay
bastien
darmian
adm
shaw
herrera
rojo
blind
falcao
mata
tree
Solskjaer's most argent acolyte right there

The point is even the most optimistic fans are not expecting to compete for the title, although it'd be nice to have a manager who's able to hit the ground running without using excuses of rebuilding and philosophy like Conte in his first season or even Sarri.

What the actual issue is that we seem to have taken massive strides backwards compared to last season where we're now even seemingly unable to compete with West Ham, who lose to City at home 0:5, and likes of Leicester are able to match us effortlessly.

The longer we are out of CL is the longer it's going to take to get back there and what's the point of having all those youngesters if they're going to play at EL at most?

Finally, what even gives you confidence that Solskjaer is capable of building his own team, he's bought and sold a handful of players and we're looking worse than we ever did even under Moyes.

Drawing comparisons to Arsenal or Madrid is silly... Zizou (first spell) and Wenger left relatively recently, as opposed to SAF, who has been gone for almost 7 years now.

Man Utd have been stagnated since, with no signs of progress whatsoever... or even worse, devolving into a weaker squad with almost every passing year. At this rate they will become the Prem's version of Milan.

Honestly, I don't see how the club could achieve short term succes the way things are now. There are teams in the league with an already established successful cycle going on, and Man Utd no longer have the same attraction or pulling power for big players. It's a similar situation to Barça from the early century... they got to a point where no top player wanted to play for them, until they hit the jackpot with a random Brazilian from Ligue 1 called Ronaldinho, who carried them out of mediocrity and back to the CL, allowing them to build from there. Unless Man Utd encounters a similar miracle, they'll likely need a patient and long crawl, which should last years, in order to return to glory.

unfortunately this is fairly accurate

the biggest draw that would pull in top players (SAF) is rightfully retired in glory. a hard bargain it is now to draw top class talent in vs the top clubs at the moment

and the short term shit didnt work well in the long haul..when it did manage to get trophies in they were sacked ASAP.

LVG first trophy since SAF - goodbye next day
Mourinho a trio of trophies and then 2nd place to arguably the best Prem team ever - goodbye after not listening to his transfer requests

it’ll be a tough more few years barring a miracle as Zark said. Ole did a great clearout but literally zero replacement is a foolish move

It's a difficult one.

The turnaround in results and performance has been amazing, but the last two defeats, especially vs Wolves are worrying.

There's also not many top class managers available and Ole has a bit of Zidane about him regarding the respect he commands from the players, so it's worth a shot.

Weird to celebrate appointment of a manager at a rival club who outmanoeuvred Klopper at Old Trafford.

Prime objective is to finish top 4 and with 2 spots up for grabs as none of Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs are really showing any signs of consistency, all that's required is a tiny bit of competency.

The problem is that, if we look at the squads, you culd argue that the other 3 teams look better on paper (even if the differences aren't huge). You would probably not only need to be competitive, but also that the rest of the teams need to underperform ( or at elast 2 of them).

It's not easy... the league is a season long competetion after all, so form often tends to even out to match the squad's potential over time.

I wouldn't say there's no chance of Man Utd finishing in the top 4, but it's just not the most likely outcome imo.
