That'd be some of it true, but the main question is, is Solskjaer really the man you'd entrust bringing the club to the former glories?

And given struggles of all Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs this season so far, 4th spot should really be a minimum target for the season and it's already looking unlikely.

yes. tactically decent.
inspiration to the young lads maybe not so much to the bigger players.
abit awkward when facing the media also you can see him lying to the journalist and cameras straight faced when trying to bring through the positivity during bad times.
we really dont need another big name manager come in and try to put their philosophy/playing style as our own.

On the contrary, I don't think this is appropriate time to try an another approach, this time focusing on signing youth and hoping they're good enough, especially with a novice at the helm - it might've been another story had someone with proven record of coaching players and making the team perform better than sum of its parts - miss out on the CL another season or two and good luck catching up with the rest of the league as Prem's only getting more competitive every year.

we still have to snap up world class players if they become available and that is strictly only because they want to come and play for us.
as for the young signings and academy players, just hope and pray. most will only become good players.
the only youngsters right now that i can see straight away that will take that extra step are greenwood,James, AWB and Mctominay.

i mean keane is technically right because liverpool did not win the league title, but carragher's point is still valid since they are clearly contenders now, which you can't say for united at the moment.

Revenues at Manchester United have hit a record £627m for the year to July.

This was despite the football club enduring a "turbulent season" in 2018-19 that saw the departure of manager Jose Mourinho and the team finish sixth in the Premier League.

Broadcast revenue soared by 18% thanks to a new Uefa Champions League deal, while commercial income was flat.

But the team expects revenue and profit to fall in 2019-20 after it failed to make the Champions League this season.

The New York-listed club is currently eighth in the UK's Premier League after a flat start to the campaign.

That leaves it 10 points behind leaders Liverpool, and five points behind cross-town rivals and reigning champions Manchester City.

'Everyone' at Man Utd working on revival
There is now a danger of the club falling behind their traditional rivals in mainland Europe for the right to be branded the world's richest. Last week, Spanish giant Barcelona announced it expected to pass the €1bn ($1.1bn; £883m) income mark for the first time this season.

'Rebuilding'
Despite the record revenues executive, Manchester United's vice-chairman Ed Woodward said the club still valued playing success on the field most highly.

He said: "We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager.

"Everyone at Manchester United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies."

For the current financial year he forecast revenue of £560m to £580m, down from £627.1m, and core profit of £155m to £165m, down from £185.8m.

The club said that during the past year it had signed three new first team players and completed several key player contract extensions.

Player wages
It said it had also announced 10 new or renewed global sponsorship deals, and that - as measured by Kantar - its total number of fans and followers globally had increased to 1.1 billion.

During the year the Old Trafford club also made an operating profit of £50m.

Staff wages for the year, mostly spent on players, were £332.3m, an increase of £36.m, or 12.3%, on the previous year, "primarily due to investment in the first team squad".

The club spent more than half of its income on player wages, despite a campaign in which no trophies were won.

Oh well, at least we're successful off the pitch.

Worst case scenario we'll take the early Man City approach - throw the money at world class players.

"We will continue to focus on the long-term strategy and won't be influenced by short-term distractions. We're optimistic for the future."

Interesting. what does short term distractions mean? Not qualifying for cl at the end of the season? losing matches now and then?
or simply allowing ole to build the team for a couple of years and everything else is secondary?

Btw with so much revenue coming in, with so many players leaving and replacing them with youngsters, our wage bill must be significantly lighter now.
even without the adidas money, i expect woodward to throw money and try to get the players in within the next 2 windows. another season of pain is abit too much
