They hide behind the 'clear and obvious error' ruling to protect the referee, even though not awarding a penalty when it is one is a clear and obvious error.

They have some stupid rule where the VAR team has to factor in what the referee might have been thinking when they made the call, then decide if it's a clear error or if the referee is justified in getting it wrong... Then they have to uphold the incorrect decision if the referee's mistake wasn't egregious enough.

Why not just let the VAR team review each incident on its own merit, with slow motion replay and multiple camera angles, then let the referee know what to award. Is it that hard?

People are already complaining VAR takes too long. It isn't there to do the refs job for them, it's there for ABSOLUTE certain decisions, "the var team" will still look at an incident and be split on whether it's a penalty or not, just like when reviewing the game after the pundits rarely come to the same conclusion. It should be used for offsides and handballs and anything the ref hasn't seen, like someone getting twatted off the ball. Having the var team review all slow motion replays is farcical, you could be 5 minutes back into the game before a decision is made.

It wouldn't take any more time, they already review it to see if a clear and obvious mistake was made, so it would take the exact same amount of time. In each of the instances linked, they stopped the game temporarily during the check.

It's not even September and all the goodwill created by start of the new season has already evaporated

Sure we were unlucky to lose, but Palace have probably the worst forward line in the Prem, conceding once is careless, twice is just unforgivable.

Alexis likely off to Inter on loan

sooo who is gonna be the other forward who can score with any consistency? Greenwood is 17, only Rooney was scoring with some frequency at that age the last 20 years

Loan is the worst possible solution to the Sanchez problem - he's still at the club, we'll have to subside his wages and we're left very short up front with transfer window closed <_<

this is probably done to appease de gea, pogba, martial and basically anyone in the team that earns less but contributed more than alexis. which is probably 90% of the team
just get rid and get alexis out of sight.

Sanchez to United has to have been one of the worst transfers in premier league history. The guy completely lost it.

Wonder what would have happened if he had stayed or went to City

Not sure it's gonna appease anyone, it's actually a sweeter gig - get paid more than most of the team to actually not live and play football in rainy Manchester, instead enjoy Italian life.
