you manc signed Owen after big success at Liverpool and it was a fail, so imagine Carroll after a fail at Liverpool ... epic fail ?!
Owen had some memorable moments with us though, I like him and I remember his time with us fondly - 95th winner in 4:3 Manchester derby thriller or hattrick in the CL against Wolfsburg I think it was.

Highest cb fee ever, second highest ever British player transfer. Even with a home grown mark-up, that's a massive overpay.

Sad to see him leave, but no way in a million years do we turn down that fee, it's at a bare minimum £30mill more than he's worth.

yea he is a 50-60m defender in todays market. rio was around 24yrs old when we got him for 30m. i remember that was overpay at that time as well.
and rio won us many titles and stayed with us until he was well into his 30s. hope harry can be more or less the same

Why United isn't actively pursuing Icardi is beyond me.

Especially since Lakuku is so desired by Conte.

Definitely great business for your small club, but the way the transfer market is going I don't see it as too crazy for us.

Just a few years ago people were laughing about Pogba being wildly overpriced when we bought him for 90m or whatever it was.

If Maguire is legit this will turn out to be a good move.
