Dunno... For me, a cb firstly and mostly shoud inspire confidence. A  team should be able to play relaxed and without the fear to lose the ball, knowing that guys behind them always have it covered. Per has never been and will never be such guy. Same goes for Koscielny.
This year is the same as it was a couple of seasons already. Arsenal usually don't have problems scoring. Midfield is also ok. I think it's safe to say, that trouble is defending. Both team and individual. And if a team has two world class CBs, they usually don't have that kind of problem.

Don't get me wrong I agree with you on the fact defence has always been our problem, and definatly that per and kos aren't up there in the best. I'm just really not believing the fact that he was going to leave since he established himself into the team very well.

It's just rumours anyway. But still, imo if Arsenal were to be challengers again like people were used to, first and major thing they need is improvement in defence. The likes of Mertesacker and Koscielny are simply not good enough if a club wants to have bigger ambitions than last CL spot.

Well I partially agree with you however, koscielny can be so immense for us but he's too unpredictable sometimes, making alot of own goals, getting red cards.
But he has these games where he's unstoppable

I agree with u. Koscielny can develop into top class cb. However there's a flip side to this. Eventho Arsenal fans over here still respect Wenger, they're getting increasingly frustrated by his current club politics. While it wouldn't be a problem to let a guy like him develop if u had the likes of Vieira, Campbell, Adams etc playing along, who could provide adequate cover for his cock ups, in current situations his mistakes cost dearly. And I'm sure that most people wouldn't mind it too much if they knew they could enjoy his game once he matures. But what's more likely is that some bigger club's gonna snatch him as soon as he starts showing signs of being a top cb. And that's why fans are pissed. Signing players like Per and selling their top stars just indicates the lack of ambition.

The hard reality but it's true, the few recent years it has been this case. However alot of the fans (and me aswell) think that the Walcott contract is making a stand now. To see that we can keep our in form players.
If this will continue only time will tell, we're lucky to have players like Wilshere tho, who will stay no mather what. He's our Tony Adams of the new era.

Arsenal have told us tonight they are not in talks with Barcelona to sign David Villa.
