Just tought I post this here, today was the "clasico" of the belgian league; Anderlecht vs Standard
And boy it was a clasico alright, 3 red cards 2-2 FT with an early and a late goal, very physical but entertaining match

Well Mallorca has sacked Caparrós... I wonder what last night's ref is thinking, if he didn't make that bad call then a man might have kept his job.

The whole situation wasn't his fault, the board even knew it when they decided to sack him, but it's almost impossible to keep a manager when you've only won a match in the last 4 and a half months

There are tons of rumours regarding who will be the next manager... some names are really nice (like Aragonés or Schuster... there are some other flashy names like Rijkaard or Luis Enrique, but I think they are overrated and I don't want them) but I don't see how we can afford them.

Manzano has a solid chance of returning. I wouldn't mind it, he did a great job in his two earlier runs in Mallorca, but half the fan base hates him and the last time he left the club he ended up sueing the board because he claimed Mallorca owed him money (which was later prooven to be false).

I just don't want someone inexperienced, it's not the time to try something risky, I hear the names of Milla, Carreras or Siviero and I tremble.

Manzano has been confirmed as manager. Good choice, he knows the players and the club and has experience in these situations.

Apparently the general manager of the club, Serra Ferrer, wanted Schuster and pretty much had a deal with him, but the 4 captains of the team insisted that Manzano was the man they needed.

There's a poll in Mallorca's most popular fansite where it asks if choosing Manzano was right, and it's 52-48 right now (the no is winning), lol, like I said half the fan base hates him.

Tbh Manzano style of play is similar to Caparrós', which is a good thing because the team wasn't playing bad at all so no big change was necessary, they just need to regain their confidence and sometimes a change of manager is the only way.

Thanks, well last time Manzano signed for Mallorca we were also stuck in the relegation halfway through the league, we finished 13th I think, completely avoiding relegation 3 matches before the season ended.

The team wasn't better back then, and La Liga was more competitive, so there are reasons to be optimistic... however we can't set our expectations too high just because it all went well 8 years ago, avoiding relegation is the goal, even if we do it in the last minute of the season's last game.
