Blackburn has been drawn in the next FA cup round, we are playing at home so it should be an easy win

Geoff Arsenal @GeoffArsenal David Villa has told Barca he wants to join Arsenal in this window. Arsenal have been in Barca last week negotiating a transfer.

A few mins ago SkySports and Goal.com report the same thing.

Damn, Villa would suit Arsenal style perfectly. Provided he stays healthy ofc.
Also there are some rumours that Mertesacker might be on his way. I would understand this move. Except a couple of games the guy has constantly been shit. Too slow for EPL and usually gets bullied by stronger forwards.

bollocks, he has been our most solid defender this season along with Vermaelen.

U've got to be kidding me. It just shows how bad defensively Arsenal has been for past couple of years, if Mertesacker is rated as a solid defender by their own fans. U probably already forgot what a solid defence is. Yeah, the guy can read the game quite well and has decent passing of the ball, but that's not enough. He's way too slow, concedes to many headers for his size and is still prone to mistakes. Atm Arsenal have only one top defender in Vermaelen. And when he's having a shitty day, they're fucked. Nobody can cover for him.

.
The description you're giving him is correct from last season, but this season he has improved ALOT.
He has saved our asses alot while still having his occasional fuck up.

And as for solid defenders Koscielny is also one of them, and he's being benched because Per and Thomas are working like a charm together

Dunno... For me, a cb firstly and mostly shoud inspire confidence. A team should be able to play relaxed and without the fear to lose the ball, knowing that guys behind them always have it covered. Per has never been and will never be such guy. Same goes for Koscielny.
This year is the same as it was a couple of seasons already. Arsenal usually don't have problems scoring. Midfield is also ok. I think it's safe to say, that trouble is defending. Both team and individual. And if a team has two world class CBs, they usually don't have that kind of problem.
