well deserved loss for my boys away at stuttgart today. by far our worst performance since schmidt took over, we created almost nothing and were even lucky not to concede earlier.

hope it's just the fact that we're basically safe already and that stuttgart actually made a decent game for once - we definitely can not afford to give games away like this though, would be bad to carry such bad momentum over to next season...

1-1 draw vs Eupen at home, we needed more. Lierse won their second game so that means Lommel is most likely out already. Next game is VITAL!

Tim Nicot: Second Belgian player dies of cardiac arrest

Lower-league footballer Tim Nicot has become the second Belgian player to die of cardiac arrest in the last two weeks.

The 23-year-old left-back for fourth-tier Wilrijk-Beerschot was playing in a tournament in Hemiksem when he collapsed on Friday.

He was placed in an induced coma and his club confirmed his death on Monday.

In late April, Lokeren defender Gregory Mertens died after collapsing during a reserve game.

Altho i'm still not that sure about it, this one could be a case of too much enhance performing drugs. In the lower leagues these things tend to happend more than ussual. Really hoping this is not the case tho

its true, the use of illegal performance enhancement is getting more of a problem
especially in these leagues where you have semiprofessional performance level but no control
there are even amateurs using dope
heart problems are a well known side effect

The thing is, beerschot wilrijk isn't a small club, they have the infrastructure of a first division club (since they were a first division club before they got declared bankrupt) so I would have tought that the drugs control would be extremely high.
Not to mention the fact that so many first division players play for that club since they went down

well, drug controls are not performed by the clubs themselves are they? i guess official controls stop when you get relegated to fourth level
there is also the fact that former abuse leads to problems later as well...
but lets not guess too much here
