Paul Scholes has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension that keeps the former England midfielder at Manchester United until the end of the 2012/13 season, the club have confirmed.

Scholes came out of retirement in January and produced a number of impressive displays as United were just beaten to the Barclays Premier League title by neighbours Manchester City.

The new deal for Scholes was first announced by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and Wednesday's announcement confirms that formalities have now been competed.

Paris Saint-Germain are lining up a staggering £120 million bid for Wayne Rooney this summer, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Rooney ended last season as the second highest scorer in the Premier League but went home empty handed after Manchester United were pipped to the title in dramatic fashion by Manchester City.

They also exited the Champions League at the group stage and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Liverpool in the fourth round.

PSG are likely to be heavily backed by their Qatari owners this summer, having splashed over £90 million on the likes of Javier Pastore and Thiago Motta last year.

Despite their heavy spending manager Carlo Ancelotti could do little about Montpellier beating them to the Ligue 1 title, although they did at least secure Champions League football for next season.

Now Sport say they are ready to push on with their bid to make an impact in Europe next season by launching an audacious bid to land Rooney that would smash the current transfer record.

PSG have reportedly ring-fenced £120 million in order to force Manchester United’s hand, while they are also willing to vastly increase the former Everton forward's current pay packet in order to convince him to swap Manchester for Paris.

It is also reported that Lionel Messi was the French club’s first port of call before their interest was quickly rebuffed.

Rooney appeared settled at United last season after a disturbed 2010/11 campaign, during which he reportedly handed in a transfer request at Old Trafford, citing the club’s lack of ambition.

Manchester United winger Nani is considering leaving the club despite being offered a massive pay rise.

The 25-year-old has spent five years at Old Trafford since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, but is now seemingly pondering his next move.

In an interview with Portuguese television station RTP he said: 'I am really happy but I don't know about my future. Now I will study opportunities.

'Football is not only about England or Spain. It is possible to enjoy success in other countries.

'My agent is waiting on news about United. We have presented a counter-offer and now we are waiting on an offer from the club.'

He has 18 months left on his current deal which sees him pick up £90,00-a-week, which United will raise to £130,000.

Nani wants to make up for the terrible end to the season which saw rivals Man City pip United to the title by having a great Euro 2012.

He said: 'It was a pain to miss the league title in the last minutes of the last match. City had incredible luck.
