I guess the English really do know more about American gridiron football than we thought. They seem to know the meaning of "three and out"!

At least Rooney scored a goal. England can be proud of such a glorious achievement

We definitely overperformed against Italy, like Ampoo said.

The warning signs were there in qualification when we drew alot of games against bad opposition.

Followed by friendlies against good opposition like Chile and Germany who beat us without a great deal of effort.

Then the pre world cup friendlies where we were shaky against Peru, despite the win. The 0-0 draw with Honduras (France smacked them easily btw) and 2-2 with Ecuador.

I guess I was biased towards my own country, and lost a lot of fg as a result, as well as national pride. Remind me in future to always bet on Germany, Brazil and Argentina to get at least a draw in world cup group games.

your team is young, now give them to chance to grow.
let them play like they have nothing to loose for the next two tourneys.
Maybe LvG can do similar thing in manchester like he did in Munich (Müller, Badstuber, Schweinsteiger as CDM) but i guess he will prefer dutch players.

the problem is that in a league full of foreign stars, english youth players hardly get the chance to play in teams that play international competition. and as soon as someone shows some promise he gets massively overhyped, overpriced and under huge amounts of pressure...
let's hope guys like barkley, sterling and oxlade-chamberlain keep getting their chances - would be good for the english national team imo...
