Liverpool have been left red-faced after being informed they weren't big enough to tempt Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Just to review what has happened:

Suarez out. €94

Can ~€12
Lallana ~€31
Markovic ~ €25
Lovren ~ €25
Lambert ~ €5

Looks like another Spurs situation signing young randoms. I hope they work out, but if I was a Liverpool supporter I work be upset.

These transfers were going to happen no matter if Suarez had left or not since we were going to make the depth better, and the best possible transfer that Pool could have made was Sanchez who unfortunately chose London over Liverpool. I do not see who Pool are able to sign as of now that will go in and make the start 11 better besides Isco or Shaqiri perhaps.

I also think that we should remember Liverpool had a far better season before they sold Suarez, than Tottenham had before the sold Bale. Tottenham didn't even qualify for CL that season. And has a better team/manager.

Players like Sterling and Coutinho are only going to be better, and having a season like they just had and selling the team's main player will bring a lot of confidence to them I believe.

Liverpool have pulled out of the Remy deal due to concerns with his medical.

It is said that he has heart problems and who knows if Liverpool have discovered other things about him. Perhaps they are not able to get an insurance on him with his heart problems, it can be a lot of things.
It was a cheap player that definitely knows how to score, but I much rather prefer to get Bony over him!

I don't rate Benzema at all, I'd much rather have Sturridge or Bony in Liverpool.

Good point about the Tottenham-like situation. We were 2nd, they didn't even get top 4. We still have quality players, all it takes is 1 signing, but we haven't had it yet.

Arsenal had Sanchez, Chelsea got Costa, now it's upto us to get a top striker. Bony is alot of money, around £20m if I remember correctly. Too much imo for a guy that doesn't start for the Ivory Coast

I'd be happy with a centre back like Lovren and a striker like Bony, if we spend around £30m collectively for them

I think Lovren is a genuinely good defender, him and Agger would be the best partnership in my opinion. Sakho still has things to improve upon, Skrtel has solid games then is out of position once and they score, kind of annoying but he is good i guess
