well like i said, with a performance like tonight, i don't expect anything from them. just two weeks ago i expected this to be pretty much a 50/50 tie. sure, villareal is a solid team but leverkusen did fine until recently this season.
after they eliminated sporting, however, they just got one point out of 3 matches in bundesliga and conceded 10(!) goals in those matches. bad timing for a losing streak i guess...

Well it's not like Villarreal is demolishing everything either. Out of their last 4 games, they've only managed to beat lowly Levante... they even lost to Las Palmas while playing home this last weekend

Still, I expected them to win, and I can see them beating anyone left in the competition tbh (which doesn't mean I see them winning it, or that I think they're likely to triumph against teams like Dortmund or Sevilla). They are going all out on this tournament, even while trying to secure their 4th spot in La Liga.
