He is leaving because it is simply his time to go, while many (including myself) do not agree with the decision, but the decision has been made and that's that.
Anyways,
Pirlo, Chiellini, Marchisio, Vucinic have also all experienced the champions league
Then, you might see a team that has 8 European champions if all goes well with the Euro tomorrow and that surely matters
