Reus I guess is better than lucas..
But where does dortmund have silva-luiz? Nobody as good as them.
Both psg and chelsea would knock out dortmund. it would be a good game, but both would.

Also not sure why we are discussing this because it's POINTLESS.
Lol that's my last response. Unlike you I cannot sit here and respond for hours writing a bunch of nonsense paragraphs.

Tbh what we are discussing is stupid af...

All at their very best, Hummels is better than both Silva and Luiz tbh.

But it wouldn't matter anyway as neither Silva, nor Luiz were crucial to Paris' victories. Chelsea's crappy defending and their inability to put actual pressure on any PSG player or slowly build up to create chances were all crucial though... and that doesn't just miraculously change because you're facing some other team.

you're just proving a major point here: you have no clue how football actually works at all. the way you're trying to rate individual players (i won't even bother commenting how retarded they are, we all know what happened last time hummels and luiz met) to determine a team's strength - could it be more obvious that all your football knowledge apparently comes from video / manager games? dude... just stop, ok?

It's not difficult to admit that the best clubs in the world currently do not play in the premier league, simple as that.

That's what I said to these germans. BUT I also was telling them that the prem is still the best LEAGUE atm.
They just keep saying the same shit over and over lol.

Silva is better than hummels any given day. Lacking in creativity and passing, but far better at marking (which hummels has none) tackling (which hummels goes in stupidly too early) and positioning.

I get the german bias tho.

Anyone would agree silva>hummels.
Also you would think the partnership between silva-luiz has gotten much stronger from 2014...

I think it really depends on what you're looking for:

Is Silva better at marking and tackling? Yes, definitely. Is Hummels still good enough at both to keep up with the the world's best strikers? Yes.

Can Silva open a play and create spaces via a short dribbling or a point-to-point long pass whenever his midfielders are marked/blocked? Didn't see that too many times.

But I'll admit that there are enough arguments to consider Silva > Hummels.
Hummels is still better than Luiz though. Luiz was overhyped a lot and mainly clowning around (reminded me of good old Lucio^^)... he only gained stability in his performances lately.

I usually look at a defender for the thing defenders should be good at.

Opening game with a short dribble or a long pass => risky, miss the pass and you leave your whole defense open. Short dribble fail = assist for the opposition. Try to see how many of them fails hummels had last season.

In terms of pure defending, silva shits completely on hummels and its not even close. Watch the two sprinting and you'll notice why.

Luiz on the other hand i don't even consider top 20 defenders atm. Has rock solid games but has way too many stupid moments/fails to be considered solid.
Plus he lacks the commanding presence of both hummels and silva.

And btw, lucio was solid defender for years (especially on his leverkusen/bayern days). Plus a threat everytime he marched forward.
