the rule is intention, not advantage; if it was supposed to be advantage it should be written that way

the 'spirit of the game' argument holds no weight - how many times have you heard 'the ref has no option other than to...' etc rules are rules, you cant just make them up

It's not about making up rules, it's about neglecting the rules that are in the book which make no sense.

Have you taken a look at the rules they add to there? They make no sense whatsoever so I applaud a ref who neglects the rulebook and goes by gutfeeling and intuition.

It might have been a wrong call when it comes to the rulebook, but it's a right call for the game.
