I'm not sure what happened, under Sir Alex we played as many if not more games and everyone was dying to play every match.

You literally just said what happened. You can't replace SAF with a typical bus driver and expect to be the same team.

1999 and 2008 were different teams/manager, and there wasn't quite the injury crisis that there was this year. A fit Zlatan & Rojo would have made the difference in the matches since they both got harsh knee injuries. Top 4 would have been there and we'd be in the same position otherwise most likely with EL final.

foot injury at the end of last month. messed up some ligaments and had surgery according to reports.
early rumors said he might miss the start of next season, but i haven't heard much since.
