the players you call very good, i call only good, but not outstanding
the only outstanding player in this entire match squad is de gea

of course we can debate about this big time, but as a matter of fact it took the best manager ever to make this bunch perform

signings like fellaini and rojo did not really make it better, while at the same time united failed to bring in a guy like pedro for example
where are the other officials to prevent this?

van gaal had bayern play the same football and his squad was not as good as the one we have now, but we still won titles and reached a champions league final

Yep, I agree. Overall the players Man Utd had back then were either overperforming mediocre/decent players, players that had only 1-2 good seasons in their entire carreer, aged and past it (or about to be) with little left to win to keep them motivated and overperforming. In some cases you even had a combination of these.

allow me to refer to ampoo's link with saf last cl match.

everything is imo ofc.
Mediocre- nani. blows hot and cold. hence mediocre. young, antonio
Shit- Tom Cleverly, Danny Welbad, yes he scored yesterday but hes going to miss the next 20. Evans walking piece of disaster.
Nearing the end- Rio and Giggsy
World class- RVP
The rest are all very good players like wayne, carrick, rafael, degod etc

SAF did not leave a bunch of bad potatoes to moyes. period

Doesn't that kind of prove what everyone else is saying? He left LVG/Moyes a shit squad, the whole starting XI minus De Gea is basically gone, the team has no spine, not even Pep would be able to make this team win.

we're now talking around the year 2013. opinions can differ but only 3 out of entire squad are deemed worthless. another 3 would be mediocre.
The rest i am talking about, like carrick. Just good to you? He was in every game that we had won and without him we lost.
rafael, LVG really tore down his confidence but this boy other than his silly fouls can really attack and he was in that title winning squad where he played every week.
here's where your big debate comes in so i wouldnt go on. But really, to say saf left a bunch of weaklings or crap players or players already past their use by date, is really insulting to saf himself.
But i dont blame you since opinions differ in this regard.

But can we just agree on GTFOLVG for destroying Man United? kthx

"It is an insult to say that I left an ageing squad," Ferguson said at an event to publicise his updated autobiography.

"Chelsea have seven players over 30 but nobody talks about them being an old team.

"It is easy to defend myself against all of that because all the statistics are there.

"I think he should have kept Mike Phelan. He was a United man -- loyal, hard-working and a good judge of the players.

"My advice to David was that he should maybe keep Mike Phelan.

Saf said its insulting

I believe the only thing he did wrong when he left was not to insist on keeping the entire backroom staff. The same staff that knows the PL, knows england, knows man united and knows the players. Unlike a certain albert, frank and louis or david, steve and jimmy.

Another fact is that Rene Meulensteen never should have left.

Nobody talks about the Chelsea players being old because they haven't declined in their performance as much as the old ones of Manchester have. O and btw Rafael always has been shit.

Even if the older players were still doing well there should have been backups with some games from time to time so they could be coached and get used to the level of Manchester United, this also never really happened.

So that makes it invalid? I've seen SAF say some stuff while the contrary was the obvious truth.

Sir Alex left a title winning team capable of dominating the league for a foreseeable future with a perfectly balanced squad and world class backroom staff.

First thing Moyes did is he got rid of the coaches and brought in his own yes men and then Van Gaal completely dismantled the team leaving it very thin with no depth whatsoever.

When David Moyes was sacked in April 2014, he had taken 57 points from 34 league games in charge, a total of 1.68 per game. He guided the club to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Sacking him was the correct call.

This season, Louis Van Gaal has taken 41 points from 26 league games, a total of 1.58 per game. He exited the Champions League at the group stage, has had a year longer than Moyes in charge and spent almost £200m more on players. The argument against sacking him was that his record suggested he could turn around a grim situation. Does anyone actually still believe that? Does he?

So when will Van Gaal be sacked? If Jose Mourinho is the club’s choice, then there is no need to wait until the summer but instead appoint him now. If Mourinho is being overlooked, United might as well give Ryan Giggs until the end of the season to gain some much-needed experience. If he guides the club into the top four, he might even get the gig on a full-time basis.

Van Gaal’s tenure at Old Trafford has been four different types of failure. He has (1) spent money badly, (2) produced aesthetically displeasing football, (3) achieved unsatisfactory results and (4) failed to inspire any fight in his players at a time of crisis. Six points off the top four and with 12 league games remaining, captain Wayne Rooney admitted that Champions League qualification would not be happening. Tools have effectively been downed.

The answer to why Van Gaal still remains in a job comes in the bumbling, mumbling, tumbling shape of Ed Woodward, who stands at the epicentre of United’s on-field mess. Woodward has an aptitude for sealing deals business partners, but noodles, red wine and Indonesian plastic straws can do little to defend a Sunderland set piece. Nor too could United’s players on Saturday.

Every advancement of United’s commercial success only widens the chasm between the fans and their club. United now face a mammoth PR task in order to win back those who have reached the ‘dark humour’ stage in their mourning.

Can't argue with any of that.
